Still LIGHT Red (bordering on HEAVY Rosé)
Made from Montepulciano
"High-toned aromas of wild strawberry, crushed cherry and powdered stone dazzle on the nose of this rusty-pink hued wine. There's ample tang and energy to the palate, with cranberry and cherry skin flavors enlivened by a slick of wet limestone. Red apple peel tannins offer a soft frame to it all, rising up on the finish to offer a final kiss of astringency."
- Alexander Peartree writing for Wine Enthusiast's 91-point review of the 2017 vintage
I mean, we felt that. They said that. It would feel like a dishonor to the wine (but really, more of an undesirable use of time) to try to find a better way to describe it.
Oh, but we did find a good song for it. 'Strangers in the Night' by Frank Sinatra. Imagine yourself in dimly-lit-but-still-safe city streets not-creepily eyeing and following the face of a beautiful stranger.
OH! Before you go - read the producer's own words below - especially the last sentence. We want to get that tattooed on our necks.
About the Producer - In the Producer's Own Words:
"De Fermo is located in the highest part of Loreto Aprutino, in the backcountry
of the Italian region of Abruzzo, halfway between the adriatic sea and the most
southern glacier of the continent. Since 1785, our family is the guardian of this
natural heritage site. This last generation’s decision represents a quest to constantly
deepen our expertise. We try doing our best at working the soil, producing without
any interferences. This is how we manage to produce in average 60,000 bottles of
wine solely with our grapes. We also grow olive trees, legumes and cereals, vegetables and we produce olive oil, flours, pasta, chickpeas. While we work we have fun, we love, we suffer and we smile, but we always have one objective in mind: to enjoy the moment."
