    Breaking free from the conventional dance performance, Butoh [舞踏 butō] is a Japanese avant-garde genre that prides itself as being “difficult to define.”  Resisting fixity, Butoh was hailed by Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno, the latter of whom directed the four films in this collection. FIFTH WALL FEST presents its first selection of Butoh entries, a four-piece range of films embracing the extremity and volatility of its genre.
